Reversing bleepers

This is most definitely not a whine about farming.
In live in a village about half a mile away from the nearest farm yard on the edge, for the last couple of days have been woken early as my friend is I believe loading corn out, not beet as that is a very distinct rumble.
I cannot hear the engine of the teleporter or the lorries coming in and out of the yard.
i suspect their are possibly 40-50 families closer
why cannot the makers of these machines put a switch in the cabs to shut the reversing bleepers off? They are very annoying to the average person who does not understand the vagaries of mills and hauliers. Especially if they have just completed a night shift
I know many, possibly myself included who have serruptitiously removed the odd wire but heaven forbid if you were caught but a button in the cab which could be pressed when the ignition comes on defaulting to on , would be so simple and would make for better relations.

The machine left the factory with a beeper to meet all the loler regs. If you do anything to quiet the beeper it no longer meets regulations therefore if you run someone over or have an accident you’re in major trouble. If one of the service guys comes out and sees the machine altered in any way (load sensor or safety equipment) they put it back or won’t sign it off.

Reading a piece last week ,,a farmer was in trouble with the locals because his new loader had a beeper ,his old one didn't .
Council or some other department warned him about the excessive noise from the machine .
Nothing about the 200 cows shouting for their breakfast ,just the noise from the loader .

First thing I used to do on a new JCB was unplug the reversing bleeper. In winter I start feeding the cows at 5:15am and nearest neighbour is about 50 meters from the silage pit. After my latest H and S consultant visit we have swapped the bleeper for a softer squelching sound. As he said you want to alert the person 3 metres away not those 3 miles away.
as others have posted having a bleeper disabled is a big no no , a lot worse than not having one at all if the worse happens.

I think more and more machines are now being fitted with "white noise" reversing alarms, very common indeed on construction equipment.

Just Googled to find a video of one to post on here and the first one I came across is a snazzy self-adjusting version that gets louder if it's in a noisy environment.

I am quite happy to roll over in bed and feel sorry for my friend having to get up early to load lorries but if you are trying to sleep half a mile away |I can imagine many people would be a bit peeved. it does seem silly that engineers have spent so much making machines quiet for health and safety reasons ( ear damage ) so then we have to have a device to make them noisy

We live about a mile away as the crow flies from a Quarry. Over a hill and approx 150m down a hole I can still hear the loading shovel beeper going off so have a bit of sympathy. If these white noise beepers are legal why does jcb etc. not fit them as standard. I feel a petition coming along.
I know someone who lived in a village not far from a mini bus garage. The bus had a reverse beeper that would wake all the locals up so after a bit of 'discussion' the bus was fitted with a " I am reversing I am reversing......." beeper which seemed to be acceptable to all.
