Smock Top

You soft bugger :p:ROFLMAO:

Cheers. I love the big one I have for winter and lambing time, but the Ridgeline was brilliant towards the end of spring and summer

There's quite a few companies caught on with selling smocks now - Hoggs of Fife, Jack Pyke, Pinewood... plus all the 'big' names. Might see what I can pick up in the new year sales (y)

MOD double mittens are the best gloves I’ve found for shepherding.
Just done a quick google!

So... I finally made a purchase after punching the hole in the Ridgeline Pintail.

This Riverside smock came today;

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/192682615466

I bought the Burnham version (identical but in a darker green/brown colour - can't share the link as my ebay app keeps wanting me to buy another when I click on it :banghead:).

Same weight and design as the pintail, BUT the fabric feels like a hard wearing canvas rather than a soft micro fleece - IMO it's made in a much better material. Stitching looks very good, it feels nice on and is comfortably sized (I'm roughly a 38-40" chest so take M in most clothing, this is also M sized 42-44" and fits perfectly). I put it under the tap and the water literally just runs off! The Ridgeline, whilst shower proof, was never as good so I'm very impressed so far and have high hopes.

It is warm out so not a great gauge... but I ditched the zip up fleece I normally wear under my smocks. I'm wearing a polo shirt and wooly jumper, just the Riverside over the top and took a run round the ewes which have started lambing. The wind didn't get through, I stayed very comfortable. I'll be back out on the bike just before dark so will report back then, too.

So far, it's a bargain at £60

Just back in from doing rounds at dusk... maiden gimmer had lambed, lamb wasn't really up (but kicked clean and dry) so fetched in.

Can confirm smock is warm with no fleece underneath. I managed to soak myself washing lamb bottles, tube etc and I'm bone dry - the old Ridgeline would have definitely had a dampness on the inner mesh.

Not a great pic, but here is my best modeling shot :oops::bag:
