How does that work?
It’s a commercial??
Not sure he has a choice, I as a VAT reg person cannot buy stuff for say £1 inc vat and sell for £50, without HMRC wanting the tax on the Value added... IE value added tax.If the dealer doesn’t claim the vat back when buying it from vw then there’s no vat on it forever. However the price is always what it would be including the vat. It’s because 80% of pickups are bought by private individuals and not business’s who are vat registered.
Are you sure about that? I would say that 80%+ are bought new by businesses that are VAT registered, whether they be farmers, tradesmen or whatever. Used would be a different story and it is quite possible that the majority would be bought by non-VAT registered people. If the dealer doesn’t claim the vat back when buying it from vw then there’s no vat on it forever. If the dealer is VAT registered, as all will be, then surely the pickups will be subject to VAT. That is why many ex demo Range Rover's, for instance, are listed as being VAT applicable, because the dealer claimed the VAT back on them as purely business [demo] vehicles but will add it back on for retail resale. In this case it is of no consequence to buyers who will overwhelmingly not be able to reclaim the VAT on a car [not a commercial vehicle] even if it is bought by a VAT registered business.Sorry guys I’ve caused some confusion. All the amaroks with dealers for sale are now classed as 2nd hand because they were all registered by September 20. So the dealers ran them as ‘demo’s’ or managers cars. So you get a used car invoice which is why majority of them are not vat registered. Hopefully that clears it up.

If the VAT cannot be claimed back, if the vehicle is sold 'No VAT' then it had better be 20% cheaper than one including VAT or it would be useless as a deal for anyone VAT registered. They didnt claim the vat back when they bought them?... is that allowed... what did it gain if so? a Farmer can not get the vat back if he buys one.

I think some people are completely confused by how VAT is administered in this topic.
I was questioning whether a dealer could voluntarily not claim the VAT on VW's invoice (as implied in an above thread) and then sell on VAT free, but as I said a VAT farmer wouldnt want that.If the VAT cannot be claimed back, if the vehicle is sold 'No VAT' then it had better be 20% cheaper than one including VAT or it would be useless as a deal for anyone VAT registered.

Sorry, but you may still be miss informed . Even if they are second, third hand. Boss’ mistress truck bought and registered they will have vat. Unless they were sold directly to the salesman/women personally and they are selling them. I doubt this happened!Sorry guys I’ve caused some confusion. I really don’t know what to do with my amarok. 2016 4 cylinder highline. I love it to pieces but it’s done 78000 now. I don’t like that new one; looks too Navara-y. But I also have nothing with ad-Blu on the farm so reluctant to change to a v6 slim pickings in the DCPU market thesedays…
Think I’ll be doing the same. Never missed a beat since I’ve had it (touchwood) and it’s just perfect for me. Was getting tempted as the trade in is so strong but no doubt the cost will be in the replacement.I'm going to keep my 2013 til its done. Got 115k on it just now, runs like a dream.
