Which Topper

By time you find the topper in the nettles from where it was left last year grease it up and fit to tractor you could’ve had half of it strimmed,

i have a largish zero turn mower for the house yard, but a couple of small sections it doesn’t fit into, that I used to do with a small push mower.
However, by the time I get it out, make sure I have enough 2 stroke fuel, get the thing started etc etc, I now find it much quicker & easier to get the cordless Makita strimmer out & use it instead

It’s roughish terrain - don’t think a ride on would cope - not one that would be same price as a topper. Might just go with a topper same width as tractor then or get a smaller offset. Flail or topper? Gonna leave the grass on floor and then hope sheep eat it up. I don’t have access to a rake or bailer so no means to get rid of it and I ain’t hand raking it!
Get the sheep to eat it first, it’s rare sheep will eat the cut grass unless starving, I’ve always found when I top what’s left after the sheep and sheep are still in the field they don’t eat the long stemmy cut grass and just nibble further down into the grass trying to get the new growth every day

This is correct!!! Lol

so an offset smaller topper or a 7-8ft topperI that width of tractor is what I’m after…nowt fancy or too expensive as only gonna be used twice a year!

For 1.5 acres? Seems like overkill to me and an offset with inexperience seems a sure way of getting fence damage too. If the OP really wants a topper but also has grazing sheep then they should get the least complicated, most reliable machine out there, which means no hydraulics, no offset, no flails. Just a cover, a blade and a PTO shaft. The finish won’t matter either, as the sheep will tidy up what’s left behind.

If sheep will tidy up what's let behind then I refer to my first post.

Over-priced. Where are you in the country anyway? If in Scotland, give Scott at Wishaw a shout - he has others, but this is plenty good enough for your needs.
