YAGRO sell out to Frontier.

Just had an email saying YAGRO have sold to Frontier. I've used YAGRO a lot for buying almost all my Ag chems, some Fert and a bit of fuel when in a hurry. Not sure how/if that side of it will work anymore, email says more about their data/pricing side of the business.
How long can Frontier keep taking over UK Ag supply and purchasing side before there is no room for anybody else?

Just had the same email, posted in a Yagro thread on here. Seems I had similar thoughts.

By doing this they've lost their independence, even though they say there will be no farm data sharing.

I assume they mean "no individual farm data sharing" but that they will share the aggregated anonymous data.....but that's me being cynical, reading between the lines with what they haven't said, and taking the idea that when someone says they won't do something specific, they actually fully intend to do something else that has the same (or worse) effect....just not in the way they are telling you that they won't do it.

Just use Farmdeals (TFF’s rapidly growing buying group) instead for buying and Farm compare for benchmarkIng, Both are free and better than Yagro that from what I ever saw achieved very little beyond extracting cash from naive investors

I suspect the only value to Frontier is data, can’t think of any other reason why else they would buy a company that only ever made a loss ? Surely can’t have paid much for that ?

Reflecting on this over the afternoon the purchase of YAGRO by Frontier can only really be for one of 2 reasons (or a combination of both).
1) Data harvesting and market information.
2) Making business harder for competitors in Ag supply.

How many suppliers are going to be signed up to YAGRO after this news? I don't think I'd be to keen putting many of my quotes through a competitor owned service if it was me.

I'm signed up to FarmDeals and MarketPalace, but they just haven't been close to being competitive with the prices I was getting through YAGRO lately. I have ordered some things through MarketPlace in the past.
I guess I will now try dealing direct with the company that got most of my YAGRO Ag chem orders, but the platform was a very convenient way of getting quotes and placing orders for me.
I will continue to watch both FarmDeals and MarketPlace whenever I'm ordering, but it currently has a pretty limited amount of offerings compared to my requirements.

For a small producer like me farmdeals and marketplace are a bonus , my business is a leg lifter by some agro companies or was .

I'm not a big producer by any means, but YAGRO has been a cut above MarketPlace for me up to now.

Many moons ago we were on serviced agronomy with Frontier, then I got BASIS and FACTS and we went supply only, but their agronomist ended up ringing me for advice on a regular basis and they weren't being particularly competitive on pricing either when I compared them with BFF and TFF price tracker threads.

YAGRO was a revelation when it came along. It was easy, convenient and competitive.
I don't mean to knock MarketPlace or FarmDeals, I have no doubt they will get a chunk of my business in the future, but they are not quite up to what I have been used to at present.

@B'o'B @Farmdeals is six months old, 4th in the premier league in respect to members and has many products on the shelf already. In 12 months time with farmer support we will be in a very different positition. Support the platform which is working on your behalf and bear in mind we are free to join without commitment. Many thanks for keeping an eye on us though, much appreciated. All the best David @Farmdeals

YAGRO's latest move has will definitely pay to your advantage!

How long before rbi buys TFF?! Biggest source of data in british farming, especially with this popular buying group and classified

Time will tell @B'o'B. Will not hamper @Farmdeals in any way, own agenda and sailing our own ship. Great foundation through TFF, great farming support through TFF, technical support through FutureFarm software. Many thanks David @Farmdeals

All good things to come those who wait @B'o'B or so I was told once upon a time. It all appears to becoming to fruition. @Farmdeals is the future of purchasing farm inputs. David @Farmdeals

you need to call Farm Marketplace for a lot of ag chem stuff ……. Old fashioned I know! long story but politics between supply and serviced gets in the way of online openness still

FarmDeals is early days but is making rapid progress and in way less than a year is already the UK’s 4th largerst buying group, it’s good on fuel in most areas and was about to launch very competitive direct supply N P and K fertilisers until the market went mad a couple weeks ago ( hopefully that will get back on track soon !) ag chems is a “difficult” market but they only way to change that is to achieve scale that can not be ignored ……. If we work together on this as farmers we will very soon be in that position……….

* difficult is a term that one day I might write a book about 🤣🤣

cant buy what’s not for sale can you, don’t you think some have already tried ? TFF and connected services will always aim to serve the best interest of those who created it …… the farmers that use it

don’t ever deny anyone who offers you value a living however, question those that don’t though !

Which was one way YAGRO scored on convenience as I could request a quote for pretty much any product at any time.
Does it need to be a call or can I email a shopping list?
