This, spent weeks leading soil with one of them, loved it.Case MX170
But for the budget id go 7140 Magnum. Plenty of weight about it boss a 6f plough

I don't think I would like 6, fully mounted, on mine. Plays with a semi mounted. Saying that a 135hp Fritz managed 6 furrows semi mounted.TM 155
Totally agree. I suppose I'm thinking auto reset. A lightweight shear bolt plough would obviously be lighter and last a week on my land. What ploughs are you guys using?
The main issue with 6f in my opinion is weight out back of tractor. Stress on everything when turning over or on a sidelings. Know guys that have went to 6f and back to 5f because 6 too big and breaking castings on linkage. They are running 200hp plus tractors.
Do any of you do any winter ploughing? Is grip never an issue?
Saw a 900 series fendt with a 6f otherday and looked a well matched outfit. That was a 100 clearance kv plough.
Horses were stronger in them daysI used to pull dowdeswell dp 6 six fuur rev behind a ford 8240 @110hp on v heavy land
Magnums are torquey grippy tanks. Excellent tractors with little better for their job, but I wouldn’t fancy pulling that lever through its gate shuttling at the headlands.
If it can be kept in forward gear all day, great, ideal on heavy discs.
Neighbour had a dowdeswell MA140 6 furrow and press behind his TM150 for years. What ploughs are you guys using?

Just leave a bit bigger headland , nice loop round , and you don’t plough through the tramline Cannot understand some doing 3 point turns on headlandMagnums are torquey grippy tanks. Thanks for all the input, will of course probably decide to sit it out and carry on as is, dont need bigger tractor for 9 months of year. Plough would be mounted slatted Rabe or Lemken.
As @Flat 10 says, putting 5f of my 120hp would be best compromise...
...if it ever runs again.
Assuming a six furrow conventional, both could pull it very easily. However as a reversible I doubt whether the Magnum would lift it and the 6499 would, but depending of the weight of plough, it would be under a hell of a strain.Mate bought a MF 6499 beast but I'd go Magnum. Red or blue.
Edit. I like the mint ones best.
Tried a different colour. Ongoing and miserable saga.Is your tractor sick?

Job done
Decent lights and a big flask of coffee could double out put...I have spent many tedious hours with a 2 furrow reversible so feel the OPs pain. But I reckon if you can go at 5mph you can do 2 acres an hour with a 4 furrow 14inch reversible. So that’s 200acres in 100hrs which is easily doable in 3 weeks. If some of it is winter ploughing it’s very achievable. I don’t know the OPs circs but if he can find another bum for a seat another 4 furrow 100HP would be the cheapest way forward? Just being devil’s advocate really. Sorry

One for the book.
It had a 6499 up front for five or six years.@bankrupt will convert you to a conventional plough.... how many hp have you on your 8 furrow?
