As a foreign Paddy, I’m ever amazed at the RT commentary which goes on in TFF. Farmers in here, who one assumes are a good representation of UK farmers in general, expend vast amounts of energy in dissing and complaining about the RT scheme.

Ask the self same farmers about the UK TB eradication schemes / badger control schemes, and you observe the same venom directed at DEFRA!

Ask about agriculture policy in general, and stand well and truly back. The “venomometer” goes into meltdown. The EU got surrounded on all flanks, and farmers fire righteous indignation in all directions.

To top it all off, the latest change in the TFF wind, indicate a mass mutiny on board the NFU. Yet another “pub talk” scapegoat.

My takeaway is you don’t want the RT. You don’t want the EU. You don’t want DEFRA. You don’t want NFU. I’m sure you have another sack of bogeymen you don’t want!

WHAT THE FUDGE DO YOU WANT?

Bless you, but aren’t asking for much. The Bord Bia scheme in ROI, is largely the same as your RT scheme, dressed in a green top. Depending on your target market for your output, you can join or not. Totally your choice.
For those in the scheme, yes they do vent a bit about some of the more stupid regs, but I can’t say I know of any farmer in it, who has pulled out. The price premium for finished product far outweighs the effort and cost to comply. I know of two who lost registration because of shall we say, “lack of commitment”!
Those who look for bogeymen to hang all their troubles and strife on, rarely succeed. Even the day you die, and for a considerable time thereafter you are caught up in rules and regulations.
Get over it! Keep calm and farm on.

Ah ... but that's the thing.

WHERE is the price premium? We certainly don't appear to get one in our milk cheque yet are compelled to be members of RT by our milk contract.

I find it utterly bizarre that so many people are spending so much time trying to get rid of RT, and so few are understanding that net zero will be just as much a ball-ache. All of the promises made about RT, all the benefits it was going to bring, the spiel about net zero is identical. It is as if someone at the NFU went into the RT filing cabinet, dusted off the original file, and has retyped it with 'net zero' replacing 'Red Tractor. It needs scrapping now before it gets embedded.
Well said. I thought exactly the same.

For grain we do all the rules and then it all gets chucked in and mixed with imported stuff. So it's worthless

Often wondered if rt is necessary any more, my agronomist works for the merchant who buys our grain. He visits half a dozen times a year, knows all my inputs, has actually seen us sweeping grain stores, fixing machines and buildings. So why do I need to pay for the sticky labels and inspection?

But I think rt and nfu will keep bumbling along under our feet as they've all become very good at finding jobs for themselves.

exactly the same with the vet report for livestock RT. Why should I Pay the vet £150 or whatever when he's here once a month on average, prescribing drugs after a chat with a coffee and a discussion about the use and reasons for the scrip.

Its a waste of time and useless jobs for the boys, left 3 years ago now and happy.

Sold lambs in market this week non assured have a red tag hung on the pen
Wonder who sorts them into fa and non fa when they come of the lorry at the abattoir????
If we weren't having to do it for dairy don't think we would bother on beef and lamb

THATS EVIL by all means mark assured , but down grading or differentiating with no reason is not fair trading ! Its openly inviting the buyers to work together to knock them out !

Not sure its evil
Just a way of identifying non assured lambs
Another market puts a green mark on assured lambs and blue on non assured when they are graded
And isn't RT about making a difference between assured and non assured
My point was are they separated at slaughter

We've just had a vet report. Exact copy of what Mrs Zero writes in the medical book!

Having watched the set up meeting yesterday the only genuine person was the person running it. Think his name was John.

The rest of them all had ulterior motives. A few can see gravy train jobs in the years to come and a few are so ingrained in it they can’t see the wood for the trees. The two lady’s who were from farming business’s 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. Clearly their own jobs are more important than the family business’s as they are happy to be selling at a disadvantage to the rest of the world.

We are a small player in global food production and we need all the help we can. Marxist like hitler assurance scams like RT are not help. Just pure hinderance.
