50:50 maize palm kernel

It would be probably 40% maize gluten, 30% maize and 30% soya hulls

I can probably get away with 12kg of that as nothing is very fizzy

So would work out to be 5kg maize gluten and 3.5kg each of maize and soya hulls to the top cows
Out of interest what kind of yields are you after? I’m possibly out of touch with it as its been a while since we attempted to graze properly. But it seems a big lump of stuff to be feeding for someone wanting to get a lot of grass into them.

12kg would be for 42 litres

Most would be more like 8kg for the fresh ones, they'll get extra up to 12kg if they milk well

8kg will do 35-36 litres which if they peak at that should mean a lactation of 7500-8000 litres which is what I'm after

I'll be buffer feeding with 4kgdm of maize silage and then 8kgdm of grazed grass

12kg total concentrates for 42 litres? Expecting 17 litres from forage? I know absolutely nothing about grazing but 17 seems a lot to ask from grass/tmr?

No they would be having 2kg rolled wheat on top of their maize silage so 13 litres from forage

So highest yielders would be getting 14kg total concentrates but 12kg through the feeders in the parlour

fed PK once, rep assured me it would go through our parlour feeders, and cows would like it.

very cheap food, they paid me, or just gave me, the pk, for shovelling it out of the cake loft. It didn't go through the feeders properly, and the cows didn't like what did.

and it takes longer for a cow, to extract all the feed value, from it, than the stuff actually stays in the cow.

and, apparently, cake prices are going to take a sharp knock, 1st april. Very significant date though, so take that as you see it.

Is your maize over 30% dm just asking because of the late harvest. I wouldn't feed wheat with it if not.

Back when I fed nuts in the parlour they sent a load that just smelt of Pk,cows wouldn’t eat it,they had to suck it out.

Beware that it does not go through augers well!

I use wheat gluten pellets through the parlour and maize gluten in the wagon for this reason.

Wheat gluten should be considerably cheaper too, around the £200/t mark
got 6 ton coming to try, £230, small load, £200 full load. Really for y/s.

they were clever, said l could have it foc, if l got it out.

and l fell for it :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I feed pk at feed barrier and maize mixed with minerals and buffers in meal feeders.
Pk is an under rated feed.
Im at grass full time since feb 18th. 4.87bf and 4.1p currently. I expect bf to rise if ground dries. Im averaging 30 litres on 3kg of each.

Don’t mess about. Get a high hdf compound that’s better balanced and safe to feed. Might be a bit more expensive but maybe less hassle in the long run!
It's not a bit more expensive though, it'll be £350/t for an 18%
I'd consider putting it through my oopf for the top cows if my engineer ever has time to wire the f**kers up
