Nowt to do with me , I only attended the open day . But the pricing is always under review .Them prices are not in line with what cattle are making now , , would love to buy 450 kg cattle at £2.63 a KG
They provide finance for you to purchase the animals.Ok. Not really what I was thinking. Not in a position to purchase the animals, wanting more a bed and breakfast arrangement, like the pig industry. Thanks
Oxbury bank is their lender of choice !They provide finance for you to purchase the animals.
Borrow the money and buy your own.You want you head feeling if you borrow a load of money to rear cattle for a company is likely to leave you in the learch in 12 months.
And buy some not so niche, more saleable breeds with better growth rates, AA, conti x etc?Borrow the money and buy your own.
But lose any quality control of how the dairy farm have looked adter the calfs for the 1st few days. If these "integrated" companies are doing their job they will soon discover from the grouth data the dairy farms they should drop.Borrow the money and buy your own.
Or send you the calves off the bad farms once they think they got control over you.But lose any quality control of how the dairy farm have looked adter the calfs for the 1st few days. Sure.Does some one mind telling me the basic finances of b and b pigs? Something I've always been interested in, just curious really as what sort of income is to be made by it. Thanks
How much straw do they use? £4 doesn't sound very much if straw is £100t.Sure.
I do BnB pigs . You need 9 sq ft per pig for weaners ( what I do ) , or 18 for fattening pigs. provide the shed , the feeders ,the straw, water and labour .
They provide the pigs, the feed, and any medicine they may need. A rep for the company will appear once or twice a week to check up on them . Pigs arrive at 27 days old , and leave at 9 weeks. 5 shifts a year . I get £4 / pig when they leave . Cash flow , and plenty of good muck for the farm . Suits me fine !
Sounds good, do you know roughly how long it would take to pay back a slatted pig shed if one was built specially for b and b pigs?Sure.

No , all straw here , wouldn’t have a clue , sorry .Sounds good, do you know roughly how long it would take to pay back a slatted pig shed if one was built specially for b and b pigs?
I use approx 270-300 bales per batch , so about 1500 a year . Got the straw here. Water would be a cost if on mains , but I’m spring fed here ( mains if red tractor asks !)How much straw do they use? £4 doesn't sound very much if straw is £100t.
