Country V Urban

I'm on good speaking terms with all of our neighbours and make a point of popping past at Christmas with a card and a bit of beef, amb or veg for them.
It works wonders for them being happy to approach me if they need anything.
If a new neighbour moves in I always make a point if dropping in to welcome them and give them my number in case they have any problems or they need anything.

IME it's not so much the neighbours taking liberties, it's the contractors they employ.
Although I did have one neighbour take out some trees that we had planted next door to him. I threatened to plant even more if he did anything like that again. If he had asked then I might have let him dig them out as it spoiled the view from a barn conversion they did in the garden.

It could be the householder told the contractor he had arranged access? Been there........

I don't know how you guys on the urban fringes or even with non farming neighbours put up with the constant battle.

Fair play to @Clive for having to deal with this!

@Clive very sorry and upsetting to read this, it makes my blood boil folk going on land they have no right to. Hope you can get it sorted to your satisfaction and not loose the plot like I would do in spectacular fashion.

sadly it’s not unusual ! seem to be dealing with these kind of things a lot

they will pay if they want their diggers back though !!!

I would advise you to delete this thread and any facebook posts on this matter if you plan to litigate the issue, its not a good idea to in any way discuss on social media a case you may become involved in, any (understandably) emotional statements you make can and will be used by your opponent to show bad faith/malice as the reason for the case, rather than the actual losses you are claiming.

i was just thinking that @M-J-G can’t have many neighbours!

It would cost md half a trailer load of lambs if I was to do that, and most of the ungrateful buggers would complain the next year if I didn’t keep it up.
Maybe I could just return a bag of dog shite to each one instead?

Is your BPS in danger of penalty due to the hedge trimming out of season? No hedges up here but I think there are specific rules. I'd want some level of indemnity cover for that from the guilty party if it were me.

30 odd, we have 9000 across the road from us and we have half a million within a few miles, but I don't class them as neighbours.

Well I wish you luck, I hope you get some compensation without the legal eagles getting involved, but these sort of things seem to tend to that conclusion IME, if only because the other party starts using them and one is forced to follow suit.
