Nash 785 574 685 etc would be ideal plenty of poke too they cant half give a good service if looked after. or if your as heavily retarded as i am and buy a db painted red and called a case - they still are a good tractor plenty of cheap DB's on ebay lots of tractor for moneys value. 1490's upwards have wet brakes. but our 1394 has a good set of brakes and turns on a sixpence and fairly simple to fix, People tend to say keep away from hydrashifts but barclay williams (one of the last DB strong holds in the UK) has told me that the synchros cost 4x more to fix when they go wrong.

I spent ages looking for a half decent scraper tractor. Looked at old MF and Ford just wanted something that looked like it wouldn’t break down in a hurry. That was possibly asking too much and ended up with the new kubota. The 5 year warranty was probably clincher over a old second hand tractor.

The caseIH with XL is good for access but finding a clean one without cab corrosion is difficult. The 4cyl ones in 2wd are very manoeuvrable and not too bad in 4wd with centre drive. You might need to fit some tescopic decent sized mirrors.

Used a hitch on a loader, mounting it on front gives greater maneuverability along with option to raise or lower.

Professional static moving crew had a ball hitch mounted on passengers side of truck so could see down one side.

The hydrostatic must suit scrapping duties perfectly ?

Wouldn’t go back, the staff love it. Drive is all on the foot pedal. Rock it forward and move forward, rock it backwards and move back. It talks to the engine so revs move accordingly. My night milkers don’t really drive tractors but this is easy for them to learn, they only have 10 mins driving to clean the collecting and exit yards.
With the Kubota here and 3 cvt tractors, I don’t have a tractor with a conventional gearbox :)
