Hilux mk7 vs ranger

Hi all, another truck post so apologies,

looking for a new work truck and have narrowed it down to a 66plate hilux 2.5 with 41000 miles or a 67 plate ranger 3.2 wild track with 80k. Tempted by the high spec on the ranger but also conscious the hilux would be more reliable. Are the 3.2 ranger troublesome? Had a 14 plate hilux and never had an ounce of trouble but keep hearing about the oil pump on the rangers? Had anyone driven both and compare? Thanks

Heard stories about wiring looms on rangers needing replaced at quite serious money.

Ranger oil pump can be swapped for a reliable alternative by a number of garages up and down teh country, for around £600. A very wise investment after around 60K miles.

2.5 66 Plate Hilux - shoite until chipped
3.2 Ranger - O.K but build quality is Ford - Oil pump & Gearbox/diff issues/Electrical issues.

Early 66 hilux weren’t guaranteed rated 3.5 tow
You would need to check plate to check
Just bought a 68 plate perfectly happy with the towing feels more planted than my old l200
