Kubota tractors?

Considering a kubota m9960 tractor , won't have to work hard , 50 acres , grassland chores , moving bales.
What peoples thoughts experience of these machines?

I have had one for 18months now... now on 900hrs

Pretty basic tractor and not very nice to drive as ergonomics are poor, as in steering wheel is poorly positioned for many drivers. Latest models have that sorted I believe. Air Seat is OK. A/C seems OK, but not the most powerful in high summer. My 50hp Kioti is better on all the above!

Very noisy in use and the hydraulics squeal at anything above 1500RPM.

Worse things is the truly dreadful emission kit. The DPF is a stinker unless you do all you work at 2K rpm+, it has an economy PTO which is essentially unusable because after 30mins work at 1500tpm, you have the DPF lights behaving like a Christmas tree... Local dealer did offer to reset it, BUT this had been done before, and it was genrally the opinion that get shot of the DPF was the best policy!! I believe teh 9960 was an early adopter of the DPF!!

Should be more than adequate for the OP's needs, subject to the above comments...;)

It’s a zf transmission so aftermarket parts are widely available???
More to the issue of hydraulics and engine components and electrics that are the real eye opener, I think they’re ok to run if your a council with no real limitation on spending, but as a farm tractor not quite there yet, they may well be zf but it’s to kubota design and has to mesh with their engines, and that’s if kubota don’t remove parts after the ten year required and kill off a large number of tractors like they did the B series tractors. Pretty sure Harper Adam’s were having a headache when they first got them stalling out on a half full mixer, so they parked up the gifted tractors and put the R series or old Ford back on them,

Its the same backend as deutz use in thier 6 series tractors and mccorrmick in thier x7 series and landini in thier 7 series so not to kubota design. Zf tranny and backend been about for long time now

Is it a 6 series with rc shift or ttv? If so its the same lady in a different dress im affraid. If it has the manual gears its a different tranny but will have the same diff, linkage and hydralics. Its generally a well thought of design but as with all machines theres always gonna be a bad 1 or 2. Sad to say thats just life and the customer normally ends up payin 1 way or another either when its out of warranty havin to fix it or prematurely changin the machine

Quite like the deutz it feels abit more refined ! But like I say horses for courses. Hopefully the 200hp group may be a better machine, the small compact stuff is brilliant though to be fair we’d be lost without ours, but what else do you replace it with that isn’t rebadged Chinese nightmare material.

All the best with it. Deutz arent overly popular in our area but theres a contractor formally a nh man that has went to deutz over the past few years and only has a couple of blue left. Seems to get on well with them. Were cartin slurry past few days ago with large tankers on around 150 hp tractors and from watchin them there punchin well above thier weight and some of them has to be gettin high hours as hes had them a good few years now. Quite fancy a deutz like a 6160 or 6180 but dealer back up is woeful here with them which is deffinitely spoilin sales

Everyone is entitled to there own opinion, and you must of been unfortunate with yours I guess? The HUD’s and electrics are primarily Bosch?!
but from my experience, Kubota have stuck to any issues we have had with them...I have one that has done nigh on 7,000 hours on a diet feeder, it experienced a pto issue, which was sorted by the new feeder drawbar being levelled up and a wide angle pto being fitted (should of been sold with one really) .we ha w also had an engine issue which was sorted just out of warranty.
if you look at the dealer surveys Kubota come out 1st or 2nd, year on year, from dealer satisfaction, this isn’t the norm from a manufacturer who doesn’t look after there dealers or customer.
I sympathise with you if you had a real bad one, but I’m sure we’ve all been round long enough to see a few Friday afternoon machines, and if they are a proper rotter nothing anyone says can make up for those frustrations...
