The house has been scraped a number of times by bits of equipment, most recently a huge tedder. I have a collection of bits of wing mirrors. I have contacted the council a few times asking for suggestions as to how to protect the house, and been ignored.
It does indeed look like the road opens out, but that is partly my fault with drawing lines (arthritic hands) and partly because the slick of mud covered the grass beyond.
I was told you cannot put anything closer than 18 inches from the edge of the road so there is no room to put a wall, as the ditch has to stay as there is no damp proof course. I suppose I could take the bank away completely and widen the ditch...
add a few piranha...

I had a chat with the farmer and he is going to brush the road. He was hoping the rain would clear it.

The silvery line is the actual road surface.

Don't want to sound un caring about your issue but I see a lot worse than that , driving a flock of sheep through would do as much

It was a couple of inches deep so you would need a large flock. I think mine are trained to only poo when on fresh straw....
I had a chat with the farmer, and he came along with a brush thing on a bucket of a JCB. I was so impressed with how clean it left the road that I asked him if he would whip through the house with it. He declined.

Thank you for all your views on who is liable, and the bits of law. Interesting stuff.
