New 10ft mounted mower conditioner?

Only 1 reason I actually know of was it wouldn't cut wet grass where a claas in the same field was cutting fine but I've no idea about the other ones

Those class mowers must be good theres a few about now ive no issues with the kuhn id have another. I just seen the mchale in the flesh last spring and thought thats my next mower

Haven't tried the rear McHale but I had a front on demo with my back claas and it didn't make any better a job of cutting or conditioning before it broke down so after 8 faultless seasons with my claas I'll be sticking with claas next time after string of Kuhn mowers I took a bit of changing but will not be going back now

Its sometimes best to stick with the devil you know as they say

Switched from the 10’6 krone mounted moco to Kuhn 10’ trailed moco and output is up 2-3acres/hr. Lose to much time turning on headlands with mounted mower. As said the Krone is very heavy. Linkage breaking heavy unless you have a very strong back end.
Why do you loose too much time turning on headlands. I thought if would be quicker. Quicker to square. Only ever had a trailed but was thinking of a mounted

That's what I was thinking but I have never used a mountie
I was always trailed and thought they were the only machine to have and to be fair the older mounted ones were pretty crap but I got a new mounted in 2012 and will never have a trailed again.
I had to eat my words I told the salesman the mounted would be back in their yard knackered in a season..... 7 seasons done and I'm waiting for my new replacement mounted to turn up just now .

Which is better fold up or fold behind. Is it simply a case of maneuverability
I had a few John Deere mow co’s before current Claas and the two things I seriously hated were bolted blades and the fact it stuck straight out the back for transport as our narrow roads the tail drift on my old 328A was concerning to say the least as it always hung into on coming traffic and passing cars in narrow lanes always had to stick the front tractor wheels into the road as cars come past to force mower into the hedge. Would hate the 328A with a front mower around here as it would really complicate getting into gates in narrow roads.

The New Holland mowers are great. Fold up at the side or turn it around and fold up at the back. Fold down at the back if bushes and cables are a nuisance or putting away into a low roof shed.

Thats kind of off putting then. Ive had my 313 for 10 odd years and its been a good mower and still is to be fair i was just seriously impressed with the build quality of the mchale
I ran a John Deere for ten years and it was amazing, changed it for a tarrup Kverneland and it fell apart in first year. Dealer took it back and swapped it for a mc Hale. It’s better than the Kverneland but not a patch on the Kuhn John Deere. For a start it’s way too heavy and second it doesn’t cut any where near smooth. I will go back to jd or Kuhn next time. Having said that it is 3 years old and has cut probably getting on for 1000 acres on one side of its first set of blades! I have no idea what they are made of but they are hard! Btw, mine has a full pack of weights on the side to try and balance it and I would say that it is only just there!

They are the original JF brand machines. Designed over 10 years ago. They very nearly didn’t make it to market as what “we” inside the then JF sales teams wanted was over centre folding versions as almost all others have now done. Lateral fold is only necessary when working widths are over 3.8/4.0m

Having to slow to a crawl to turn without tipping outfit over. Strain on hydraulics if travelling very far on headlands.
Lifting and lowering has to be done more gently.

In steep fields having to stop and reverse around to turn.

Would never go back to mounted unless was butterflies.

Looking to purchase our first fold up 10ft mower to our fleet of trailed mowers. Speaking to numerous people, everyone is telling us not to get a conditioner. Complete waste of time. Great years ago for those lifting 10ft rows but people say I would be an idiot to pay extra for a conditioner. What’s your views?

I was convinced six years ago to buy a mower without a conditioner lighter on tractor less fuel probably more acres per hour with not having a lot of hp. Even with spreading the crop and rowing up again I have never seen so much water coming out of my bales. One season and back to conditioner

What are people getting quoted approx for the mounted rears? A pottinger is circa £14k at the moment

Just went through this most main brand mounted with metal conditioning tines came in between £12400 and £13000. McHale was lower but may have been a one off.

Priced a couple of trailed with same spec and was from just over £18000 to over £20000.

All off season prices with no trade in.
