The sweeping “in-principle” deal will entirely remove tariffs on most goods produced in New Zealand, making 63 per cent of current exports tariff-free once a final agreement is settled. Beef and sheep meat exports – one of the most contentious aspects of negotiations – will be tariff-free in 15 years.

Aren't we all supposed to be eating a "plant based diet" soon anyway?

Really looking forward to seeing vegetables growing on the heather hill Muir once I've put away the Blackie ewes 👍

then again we also meant to have a "in-principle" trade deal with Australia , which seems to have stalled as they sort out little things like the DETAILS of of the trade deal.
so i'll not be surprised if the NZ deal goes the same way. Big headline about how Boris is out getting trade deals, many years later the deal get work out

So on Radio 4 Today the presenter repeated the mantra of different seasons for lamb win win etc

Fair enough but the ignorant presenter twice in the intro and as part of a question to Minette Batters said UK has Spring lamb and it we want to eat lamb now we need NZ

Yes Minette stated our farmers have been looking at year round supply but no challenge to the false assumption about when our lamb is ready

This Easter lamb stuff drives me f**king nuts

Yes. No reason at all why UK couldn't slaughter home produced lamb every month of the year.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
