Ryetec Maag SSP drill

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience or thoughts on these drills? Seem to have been around for a few years now and not much info or opinions out there on them.
They appear to be a decent drill, and individual coulter depth is a big positive, but always good to hear opinions, especially from those using them!
Thanks

I’ve had a 3mtr trailed one for about 3 years, plus had one on demo the previous year. Fairly happy with it, and back up from ryetec has been good. Happy to answer any specific questions, just a little busy today.

Thanks for the reply.
Just answer whenever you get a chance! No rush......
Any particular issues since using it?
What sort of speed do you go at?
Does it handle stones ok?
What's the wearing metal rate like? And the cost of replacing it......
Best wishes

I had a 3m one for a season, sounds bad, but we bought it to see if DD worked organically, it didn't. Ryetec were very genuine to deal with.
It's a very simple drill and worked as well as any of the expensive ones. They cope with stones OK. 3m mounted was a bit on the light side for harder ground, we hired their 5m trailed to contract plant the neighbours farm and penetration was good with that one. It had done quite a few acres that drill, lost one disc for a bearing failure and the marker discs are shoddy. It had a few pitfalls for us, it doesn't like loose worked ground, throws too much soil, so not ideal on min till or conventional tilled. Really though, I don't think many direct disc drills would have done any better. If I were to go back to conventional over organic and wanted a disc drill I'd buy another. Very easy to pull too. For all conditions, longer season windows and more fuel use I'd buy a sprinter with Dutch openers again and solid fill the tyres. The MAAG is certainly worth considering, good value because its simple and not a market leader, not because its rubbish.

We did initially have problems with oil seals on the hydraulic fan, but it was VERY quickly sorted out under warranty ( they made a change to the plumbing on it stop it happening again).
No other parts needed to date.
Disc have hardly worn, but it hasn’t done a huge acreage, and we are mainly on non abrasive clay soils. To give you some idea we run this drill alongside a lemken double disc drill which has done over 4000 acres on the original wearing metal.
Speed depends a bit on what I’m drilling into, tends to be
10 - 12 km - to fast can lead to soil throw on loose soils.
Done a mix of crops; grass seed into old pasture, stubble turnips, osr, winter and spring cereals and spring beans.
The team at ryetec are good to deal with and if your seriously interested usually can arrange a demo.

They look good to me, I like the look of coulters spaced wide due to front and back configuration. Quoted £43k for new 3m mounted, in case you hadn't enquired on prices yet

I wonder if the ryetec will appreciate in a similar manner to your house in 30 years 😉
well it'll lose 10 k or something from new as soon as its done a few acres.
,all farm machinery no matter what it is will /has been gone /go to a scrap yard surprisingly quickly if you look back at what was new 20yrs ago or so .

i don't get excited by it any longer, thankfully.
