Sequesting carbon

Ok after listening to a podcast today Aussi ranches are requesting carbon for microsoft, so can anyone fill me in on how to get hooked up to a company ho would pay me for the "use of land" to sequester carbon in the uk. I see big business banging on about how kind to the environment they are being by offsetting there own dirty footprint on a nice piece of unspoilt land, who arranges these transactions ? how much land do you need? is anyone on the forum involved in any projects like this ? BTH they also said that feedlot beef produced massive amounts of co2 but that cows allowed to roam free had a tiny carbon footprint and that because the helped build up the sold structure with dung they actually helped the situation .. finally someone with a wide eye on the job Thought? P.s im not trying to do this i just though it might be a topic the forum could do with ?

Yes tbh agree but listening to the podcast Microsoft seem to do well out of it and I’m sure the landowner gets more than free broadband , I’m just asking ?

Taking money from global corporations, to compensate for being screwed on our primary job, by global corporations ? Nah.

I would imagine that it is like The Wild West. You are a global corporation, you write your own rules.

CO2 offsetting works like that slight of hand trick with 3 upturned cups. Put a ball under one and move them around, now which one's the ball under? Wrong, wrong and wrong. It's not under any of them it's vanished

The ONLY thing carbon offsetting is about is so that huge companies can get to say look we're reducing our carbon emissions.

They're not. Simples. It's trying to con the public and avoid criticism. They're still burning the same fossil fuels as before. Utter @rseholes.

yes this has been said several times already, the point im trying to ask is are farms actually seeing the money from the "big business" and what quantity of carbon do you sequester of say 1 gbp? has anyone on the forum sequested carbon for an actual payment?

Large numbers of us sequester carbon. We always have. No we aren't getting paid. It actually wouldn't bother me if I was paid a nice consideration by a large company. I'd pocket the money and smile.

However, I would also demand that farmers are no longer fair game in the ridiculously stupid media witch hunt that's going on at the moment. Then and only then would I actually agree to it.

Sounds about as transparent as the trade in derivatives, probably dreamt up by the same crooks. Relying on the ‘Emperors New Clothes ‘ principal where no one is prepared to ask what the basis of this in for fear of appearing stupid. As long as the money is coming in and the shareholders are happy who cares?
