Can you get the active in an auto spec? That would be ideal for me but often have to go for a higher spec than needed to get the auto.
Not that I know of Hally, mines a manual but I'd always choose auto

What’s the 2.4 like compared to the old 3.0?We have a 2.4manual and a 2.8 auto .
The 2.8 is faster and obviously more power but i prefer the 2.4
seems smoother and pulls well enough.
600cc less and addblue pish. Just buy another range rover and be done .What’s the 2.4 like compared to the old 3.0?
You may laugh but I wondered when my disco is long in the tooth would it work if I just fold the seats down and put in a dog guard and rubber mat and use it as a farm vehicle. These double cabs are getting too just to get knocked about with dogs and stuff piled in.?600cc less and addblue pish. Just buy another range rover and be done .
Them discos look real bargins secondhand makes a mockery of new prices !! This lomg leed times etc bull sh!t to keep prices up , leave them with i say stuff em !! You could get a nice disc for 5k whats a gator ? 20 plus !!You may laugh but I wondered when my disco is long in the tooth would it work if I just fold the seats down and put in a dog guard and rubber mat and use it as a farm vehicle. I have a fire f150 with a 5.0l motor and six speed auto. Tow a fair bit one way or another. Pulls good and will pass anything on the road except the petrol station. Coming back from Nebraska a while back and going into a strong wind it was burning 28 litres per 100km not a heavy load either. next will be a diesel i think. Autos are good for most things but when they do go wrong it’s expensive.as for a seal auto unit. That’s just asking for trouble.I was in Houston with work not that long ago and the yank tank hire car had a four speed auto gearbox, it was horrendous. I couldn't believe a modern car would have something so awful fitted....
I chipped my 2.4lt. but i couldn.t believe the difference when I got the 2.8. I would say the 2.4lt was much the same as 3.0lt.A few have chipped the 2.4l auto and go like a train.
i darent chip my old 2.4l as it was a manual with the usual chocolate clutch from Toyota. The 2.8l has some grunt and is what it should have been from the start.I chipped my 2.4lt. but i couldn.t believe the difference when I got the 2.8. I would say the 2.4lt was much the same as 3.0lt.
Keeping them discos going is the problem, last disco we had was the worst vehicle we ever owned (had landies for 20 odd years before that one), got shot after 13 months of misery and great expense. Finished with the LR brand completely after that one and before anyone asks what went wrong - pretty much everything that could..!!Them discos look real bargins secondhand makes a mockery of new prices !! Tell me about it, snapped crack on the D4 here, fortunately a good will gesture from JLR and they are replacing the lot but waiting on new turbos with no del date as yet.....hence why I used the HiLux the other day. Been really considering the 2.8 now I'm fed up of LR properlyKeeping them discos going is the problem, last disco we had was the worst vehicle we ever owned (had landies for 20 odd years before that one), got shot after 13 months of misery and great expense. You’re lucky mine snapped JLR and local main dealer didn’t want to know laughed really. Pure garbage.the amount of people who say do not run a disco out warranty.60 grand vehicle un economic to run after 5 yearsTell me about it, snapped crack on the D4 here, fortunately a good will gesture from JLR and they are replacing the lot but waiting on new turbos with no del date as yet.....hence why I used the HiLux the other day. I'd like to know too, 13 year old 3.0 here and have chance of a 3 year old 2.4 manual, should I look out for an auto, or save up for a new 2.8?What’s the 2.4 like compared to the old 3.0?
Ordered mine in December, it’ll be November before it’s hereBe hard to get a new Hilux at the moment or really expensive
Look at the years you have lost, not having a hiluxI was always a HiLux doubter but recently had a 2.4 for getting about, only a single cab but I've been so impressed with the Active spec. It's got A/C and a bluetooth radio so what more can you ask for from a work truck?
Took 5x roughly 500kgs weanlings away 30 miles on Monday and the power button makes one hell of a difference, like a different truck when pressed, not my D4 but you know what I mean.
+1 for a new HiLux and I can only imagine the 2.8 must be a beast... AUTO all the way though

Look up the Land Rover UK Forum, the D4's snap cranks for fun. Anything from 10,000 miles onwards and they are a ticking timebomb it seems.....Tell me about it, snapped crack on the D4 here, fortunately a good will gesture from JLR and they are replacing the lot but waiting on new turbos with no del date as yet.....hence why I used the HiLux the other day.
