I know very little about them and considering buying one to do our own.
What would you recommend, wants to be a reasonable size as not all grass close to the farm and it will be going on 240hp?
Seem to be more 2nd hand Pottinger about and I would imagine are good wagons?

Buying used, factor in the price of a new replacement rotor is my advice. I was surprised how much damage a small piece of wood did to the rotor of a pottinger Europrofi with a friend the other evening, had to remove two knives and two scrapers to continue. It will need 4 sections removed and replaced on the rotor.From my initial search could be around £1000 for just the parts.

@JCfarmer We have owned Claas, Strautmann and Pottinger wagons here, The Claas was absolutely garbage so we went back to using trailed choppers for a while then bought the Strautmann in 2008 it was a very good wagon. It was replaced by a Pottinger in 2018, simply because we can see the dealers yard from our yard. so far it has been just as good as the Strautmann.
So I would say to try and find either of these two breeds of wagon, if you can find one which has been looked after and with the lowest load count go for it.

As above I’d say stick with mainstream brands as above as either Srautmann or Pottinger.

Its quite a specialist market so resale value has to be taken into consideration.

Thinking on the old Lely ones which I think are now Agco seem to be useful.

I'd recommend looking at a Krone as well as the other makes, extremely well built and robust, I'd also buy something relatively new, no point in buying someone else's troubles.

In a pottinger buy nothing smaller than a jumbo 6010 or in a strautman buy a 3602 or bigger , but not smaller.

@james ds

Will be able to assist.

I had previously deemed James as a know it all, I have to say after watching his farmflix episode I have a new found respect for him. He's been using wagons for a long time, has plenty of experience and obviously worked hard for what he has and didn't have it handed to him. 👍
Thanks Richy for the kind words , I’m glad the video came across the way it did , and your right I got nothing handed to me , it’s been a long road and at last I have a bit of comfort under my bum , The lads from farmflix couldn’t believe how much grass we were moving the day they were down , it opened their eyes to just how efficient the wagon system is.
