Why do so many people use castration pliers the wrong way around

Is it just me that gets annoyed whenever you see lambs being ringed on tv and they always seem to have the four points that the ring sits on pointing towards the lamb then buggering about pushing the ring off the pliers with their fingers instead of pointing away from the lamb and using the pliers the way they are supposed to
yes slide on , check fer teats clear , a quick flick and the the jobs done, one handed.

fine with new pliers and ones in good condition but when they're bent about etc with age the ring stays on better as it goes over the tail or bag using it points first ,does with our old pairs anyway.

They’ve mostly never been shown how to do it properly.
I know folks who'll have rung tens and
possibly hundreds of thousands of lambs and slid the ring off with their second hand, and when they see you do it the other way they think it'd amazing :ROFLMAO:

There are some pliers that don't let the operator use them properly, ime, because the prongs are too long. The spare set here has long prongs, and is much clumsier to use than the original elastrator. It's as though it's designed to use prongs downward.
