Yeah I need one for start of season so do t really have time to mess about with demos , Kuhn it will be then likely
Out of the pair I’d have the Kuhn every time, if only for the resale values.

Appreciate you don’t want a Pottinger, but they would be my first choice if you did, they’re a lovely strong machine now. Bit irrelevant though as I doubt you’d get one for start of season though unless theres a stock one on order somewhere.
Can you definitely get a Kuhn or Mchale in time?

As far as I’m aware yes they are on stock order due jan/feb . Pottinger dealer has some in stock and Claas in stock too

I ordered a Kuhn this time last year and we had it for 3rd cut. Wouldn’t be a reason for buying another make mind. Brilliant piece of kit, not that I’m particularly experienced with front mocos.

Kuhn or Krone if you can get a better dealer, they’ve good stone protection. Who wants a mower built with polish parts by polish in west of Ireland?

Exactly this. If you're going to buy a McHale, you might as well buy a Samasz, same bed. Doesn't seem to be many round, and anyone that has had them seems to want out of them quite quickly?

Out of the two the OP mentioned, I would consider the Kuhn, even if its more expensive, its residual value will be far, far greater than the McHale.

If I had choice of anyone, Krone. I'd expect them to be a little bit more expensive than some of the others premium brands, but not massively? Any other Krone dealer you can get a quote from?

Krone was another 1k on top of Claas move, and Kuhn is £600 cheaper than Claas move. Was speaking to well known local contractor who had the krone float on demo for 3 days and no matter what they did it wouldn’t make a job of cutting neither. Part of me just wants to go with the Claas 3200fc push mower but just worried it won’t cope with ground too well. I’m not really that knowey , not flat but hilly type ground .

The 3200 will cope with anything you can throw at it . My mate cuts thousands of acres a year with a butterfly outfit and his front is a 3200 and gets on grand with it . I've a another mate had a 3200 which got written off and now has a move he says it's good not a huge amount better but he's had both and says it's still just a mower at the end of the day

Check them all for actual cutting width as some will be wider than others

Out of your choices it would be Kuhn for me but I run a Krone pull type front mower. I'll be honest I didn't think it followed the ground too well either. But it was a restrictor wound in too far from the factory that was preventing the oil leaving the ram fast enough. I mow a lot of rough ground and small fields, the safecut has saved me too! A brilliant idea, if you run a Krone rear I'd probably be running a Krone front the blades are the same too... Well built and I haven't yet found any grass it wont mow.

Just think the krone has overpriced themselves this time plus dealer has no urge to sell me one neither

Go for an independent “pull” type suspension. Unless you are on a budget or have relatively flat fields, it’s a much better solution. We sell more pull type S Flow suspension compared to our “classic” type but each have their place. Incidentally I think we are unique on that both outer disc pairs both ends rotate towards the centre to ensure the tractor wheels don’t ride over the just cut crop

Out of the two I would go Kuhn , Never heard bad things about thir mowers, also they have a good stock of parts at their UK HQ at Telford.
I was looking to change for this season but went Claas in the end with a MOVE front mower. We have a V good Claas dealer close by and Saxham is only an hour away. The deal swung it as there was a set of rears sat at Saxham at 'the old price' so just waiting for the front one to come in the spring. Kuhn dealer never even came back to me with a quote.

Are Kuhn still the swing out behind type or do they fold up?

I’d never go for a swing behind mower on the back.
The new rear ones fold up side like others. Took them a long time to go down that route they must have lost a lot of sales over it in my opinion .we have a 9ft rear Kuhn for the smaller tractor and it’s bloody leathal on the road

The first of the Mchales needed modifications , but the current mowers are going perfect, I know a front back combination that has 7000 acres done 100% trouble free over two seasons. So at this stage I’d say the Mchale mowers are now proved to be as good as their balers .

Was talking about the loss of sales with my kuhn dealer and he admitted that it took far too long and they definitely lost sales.

Out of the 2 I'd be leaning to kuhn.
