Grass seed recomendation Please

Could anyone recommend a permanent seed for a dry light soiled sloping field? the intention is to run ewes/lambs at some stage, and a merchant that is still operating would be good, also what are my options given that it may go dry/dryer soon.

We always use Cotswold seeds cant fault their service and prompt delivery, they are still operating I had a delivery a few weeks ago. Something which contains cocksfoot, chicory, redclover, some deep rooting herbs as well as some ryegrass for early season growth. Lots of the above will be killed off if overgrazed and set stocked. They do a mix finder on their website which is a useful stating point, you can customise every mix as much as you want when ordering over the phone.

Put half a pound of rape in will help shade it from the Sun . But basically if we dont get rain it wont grow

wait wait wait, if you can to late summer early autumn, allways the best time to sow grass so it gets established by the spring, with the price of grass seed its the only way ? other choice cheap stubble turnip mix, graze in summer then muck well good entrey to grass seed?

We always use to seed in the spring never had a problem , but last 10 years its been hit and miss with the weather Autumn is to wet it justs drowns the seed and clover dont come

Provenance I would say is number one.
Is it Higher Voluntary Seed.
Are the varieties in the mix currently listed in the RGCL booklet.
Have they ever been listed?
Purity figure
Germination figure

Do you know Westerwolds and Italian Ryegrasses can legally be sold with a minimum germ figure of 75% worst-case scenario a quarter of a 14kg bag could contain dead seed?

We always get on better with Spring reseeds here, giving a good bit into the Autumn when we need it most. You're probably right though, given the op's description of the field as 'dry' and 'sloping', and his location in the South East.

13.5 kg is not low on a long term mixture or im an IrishMan
Look at Cotswold. All that lat mixes are 13 kg

Using only 0.75kg/acre of white clover you will be sowing 375000 seeds per acre less than a full 1 kilo.

According to the recc lists, Aspect was first listed in 2011.

Cancan in 1998, Toddington in 2010, Bijou in 2014 and I can't find Majestic or Jumis.

I'm not saying there is necessarily anything wrong with it, but the saving is from not having the newest varieties in there, and a slightly lower sowing rate (that 0.5kg will shave a couple of quid off the 'acre price' on it's own).

14 acres of the seed I had of you never grew mainly because it’s still in the bag in the shed (it was to wet) but the other 64 acres look good however if you could arrange for it to rain on it very soon I would appreciate it
