I wasn't planning to drill this month anyway. March cereals into "only just dry" clay is never as good as when it's actually warm and no "iffy" bits.
600 acres in so far. Not great conditions but stuff drilled last Friday is chitting well. Photo taken yesterday morning.

Yeh that’s hanslope. It looked a lot worse before we rolled it. The sprinter drill leaves lumps everywhere when it’s like this but give it a day to gaze off and the crush down okay with a quick roll (no double rolling areas)Looks good. Is that your Hanslope clay? Looks to have some friable top soil and well structured.
I must get you a photo of some Denchworth and Wallasea series, if you were cutting into it today round here.
Haven’t seen any yet but will stay vigilantLooks good, any slugs about? The wheat we drilled in Jan is plagued in patches and the field hasn’t been osr for 10yrs

No it’s all hanslope gear, got the odd light and odd heavier patchI kinda assumed it was Hanslope. Your in Suffolk, do you have any Beccles 2 on your holdings? A bit of Denchworth might be interesting too.
But it looks good, so crack on.

Well it need drains and doesn’t grow root crops so it’s not exactly corswold brash!
Amazing what a bit of breeze and sub 70 percent humidity can do. Might get excited and book the seed dresser!
Whoa, steady there old fella. I almost sense a feeling of excitement, anticipation - that will never do. First thing to do though, as a matter of urgency, is telephone your agronomist and at least one agrochem distributor, two if you can find time, to allow them to come of suicide watch.
