Private plate

do you know that this plate is owned by the Union or by the Mutual.
Which ever does, I would think it has been a very good investment for members or there pensions.
Remember , many farmers sit on an investment all their lives and never cash it in, preferring to pass it down the generations. Once you have slaughtered the goose it will stop producing eggs

if it was bought with members money (my money if bought pre 2014) it should be sold and the proceeds donated farming charities

maybe if they focused on lobby and representation more than investment they may be some use ?

what is their purpose exactly ? seems they don’t even know this

If it’s on a promo vehicle going around the shows, it’s a great way of giving a bit extra at minimal cost (£80 every time the vehicle is changed so maybe every 3/4 years ?).

Let’s be honest - it’s cheaper than a banner ad on here would be and probably gets noticed more too.

The NFU (mutual or union itself) need to advertise to keep going, to keep membership income and hence allow them to operate - this is cost effective advertising and I really can’t understand Clive’s reaction.

Many of these plates were bought for an absolute pittance years ago, often on a car which was 100% of the value of car and plate. Not sure how much NFU1 would be worth, but it will have been a very good investment Over the last 10-15 years as the popularity has taken off

It is doing its job, free promotion. You're advertising them now, for free.

The person who bought that plate was forward thinking to be fair.

North Yorkshire police used to have AJ 1, used to be on the chief constables car.
Then it was on a mobile police office lorry for a while, and then a few years ago they sold it for quite a lot of money.

£243,000 in fact...

They never bought the plate, it had been on the chief constables car since 1907.

this is honestly quite sickening when you consider how better than money could be used to help members

if it was bought when i was a member i am disgusted frankly

Clive you are a smart chap, you’re streets ahead of most of us on here but your personal vendetta against the NFU and NFU Mutual makes you come across in a not very nice way sometimes. Time to let it go ...

Local council had F1 and 1F on their cars. Flogged them a few years back. F1 sold for about 400k which thought at time seemed cheap with all money in Formula One. Apparently new owner turned down £10million offer for it. Said he would let it go at £14.4 million which would be a tidy profit.
