Pronto or Rapid?

I’ve seen the threads in here before about this subject but which is better suited to me? We plough prettty much everything except top work for OSR and grass, on heavy clay mostly. Currently running 4m polymat combi drill which we’ve had years but after something abit quicker in a drier time and also a firmer seed bed to help with slug control (we do roll when conditions allow).I have done the polymat up last season and not wanting to get rid as i will put in the back of the shed for wet times or ploughing and drilling after tates and sugar beet. We only have 170hp so after something 4m wide and options are as above the horsch and vaderstad. Any issues with each? Pros and cons? Budget of around 25k. Thanks

10yrs with a pronto here, has been pulled with everything from a puma 155, jd6920, jd7530,puma 175, and now on a puma 200cvx with the option of a fendt 724 but that's mainly on the 4m combi, no problems apart from wearing parts, have replaced sowing discs 2 years ago and replaced the working discs last winter, does take a fair pull if full of seed (2t) and discs in a few inches

Rapid great drill high output even emergence on hills you will need 50hp per meter less on flat land very reliable I ve used one for the last 19 years make a semi seedbed then drill into it

@An Gof you should send the Deere’s down the road!! They don’t do horse power it’s donkey power! I ran 5m rapid on a Puma 165 and it managed on steep banks would always manage 9-11k. Now use MF 7726 and it’s total boss!! A rapid needs speed though really 14-16k is nice. Rapids do have limits on wet but in my opinion all drills do even P/H.

Thinking the pronto is more like a vady spirit than a rapid.
Bonus of a pronto or spirit is you get one more roll before seed placed in the ground.

the rapid works the other way around.
both good pieces of kit

Have a 4m rapid here with 200 up front along with 710 tyres. Yes on hillsides it needs all of 200 and more but my biggest problem is traction. You can jack out the levelling board and discs to help up the steepest parts but with mine having the four press wheels directly behind the tractor they take most of the drill weight and reduce traction up steep banks. I don't think I'll opt for these on my next drill but ok if your all on the flat.

My first Rapid had the press wheels and I did the same as you, that was a 3m with 125hp on the front to start with. Now have a 4m with no press wheels on 240hp. Works very well, I do have issues with getting up some steep banks, as a last resort I put the weight back on the front, although with RTK I don’t normally need to do this as I can drill in lands.

As you I need front weights on hillsides and with some fields have to put tramlines in first then drill steepest parts all down hill in lands like you. If I had no RTK It be a real struggle.
