Some of our barley looked pretty uneven a fortnight ago but the later tillers are progressing pretty rapidly. I don’t think we will need glyphosate but harvest will be the last week of August IME.

Cut 70 acres last week, the rest will be done inbetween wheats. This block wasnt sprayed off but looking at other bits theres alot of green due to uneven emergence, some sat in dust for weeks till it rained. Get it as soon as you can as waiting for it all to be ripe will mean a fair % will be on the floor already.

The last time I grew SB the grain was ripe, but the straw certainly wasn't, and I knew that my straw merchant would give me a piece of his mind if I baled green mould prone straw, so I had to let it lie there for a week through a couple of showers before baling. So this year the sprayer and roundup will be used on every acre to make sure I can bale it as quick as possible.

When malting premiums were good and we had 20% greens waiting till it was ready ensured it all made spec
combine from 15 august to 15 September
if I could get it drilled earlier then early August would be possible
the mid April planted is even here rained the week it was planted and has had regular rain since

Didn’t half the other ears fall off on that time? Propino certainly seems to self combust pretty quickly.

Seen some barley today that must have had a fair dose of fungicide. Will maybe be ready at end of September.

Could it be stuff that just lay in the drought then germinated late?
Got one field on heavy land like that. Will be 2-3 weeks later to harvest than the rest sown at same time.
Amazed it came to a crop at all given what it looked like.

In danger of going down in places if tomorrow’s forecast is right. Just at its heaviest just now whereas rest of the crops beyond the danger stage.....I hope:oops:
