These tine drills make a lot of other drilling equipment look daft. It's a hopper, metering unit, two folding wings and some tines with a following harrow. You couldn't make it more simple if you tried.
This is what we bought from @Bob lincs , converted from a KV cultivator with Sabre tines. It is a little long behind the caddy, but really good clearance so even a few stray maize stalks just go straight through. Really pleased to have it this autumn

Will the KV work direct in to stubble in drier conditions? What I've been told this morning is that it won't which I was surprised at

We have a KV TS Evo, approx 2013 vintage, when the KV man was helping us to set it up for for the first season he expressly said that it was not strong enough to be used as a direct drill. So, after we had finished our drilling that year we tried it with some left over Barley in a small field!
It went ok, and the crop went on to harvest and yield all right, but it was quite obvious that if we did this as a matter of course, then as czechmate said we would bust springs and legs all the time.
They are good drills with but like anything they do have their limits.

@snarling bee , by wide spacing do you mean 150mm row spacing?

Ours is at 150 mm spacing, but its a 4.8m drill not 6m. In our first year we did have to rearrange the time placements to improve trash flow. I got the impression that 150mm spacing was not a common option, and KV did not have a lot of experience in how best to place the tine legs, hence the need to arrange.

If you like i can try and get some pictures of our machine set up if it helps.

I do mean 150mm spacing. Ours is 125 which is too close in the wet and when going deeper for beans.
Thanks all the same but photos from a 6m would be better I think.
I had planned to make the changes this morning, but its a bit more complicated than first thoughts.

I must admit, they make me think of something like a bomford superflow, with a hopper and some pipes, yet 10x the price .
Can't remember who it is, but someone on here has posted pictures of his tine drill for dd. Pig tail drag, accord hopper on top and changed the points for some Metcalf/Bourgault etc.

I’ve got a KV 6metre 40 row. If you send me your number I will contact you. I’m in Essex so you may want to view rather than photos
