We have a oil seal leaking on a Fendt 724 turbo

Only option by dealer is a new turbo which is ££££

Can anyone recommend a turbo reconditioning company tat maybe able to help fitting new seals and bearing etc ?

I "think" these turbo are variable geometry so will need to be someone who can deal with that

There is no rush, leak discovered while in for routine service and no need for the tractor in a hurry so if I have to send it away of tae it somewhere that's ok

Have a word with Gavin Robinson (The Derv Doctor) & see what he can do. I reckon he sorts them & can give you some extra ooomph whilst he's on with it

What make is it? garrat (I think?) dont sell spares so any recon is done with non genuine parts, the cost of a turbo isnt that high direct for maker/wholesaler.

" Cheapest tractors to own and run"...............

I knew some smart arse would say that ! in perspective it is now 7500hrs old and other than new brakes (worn out) this is the first none service bill it has had

Pretty good IMO that, wish other brands we had run in the past needed so little and were as good

not sure at this point, will find out more tomorrow

a complete turbo from Fendt is £2800 - which sounds very expensive to me when all that is wrong is a weepy oil seal !

I'd be hoping for more than 7500 hrs out the brakes got one at 16,000 hrs and not needed brakes and spends most of its time on the road.

we do a lot of road work and this particular tractor has spent most of it life carting corn and compost 7500hrs (rears) seems fairly reasonable to me, I've run tractors in the past that have done less

If someone rebuilds it and the dealer fits it, what happens if it scatters itself and bits get in the engine, or it turns out it wasn't just the seal? Anyone standing buy it? there's a reason dealers fit new.
I'd put a new turbo on it for piece of mind, it will look better on the service history when you move it on too.

Oil seals don't normally wear, they are usually a sign that something else is worn, thereby damaging the seal.
A new turbo is cheaper than a new engine!
