Whilst killing as few other species of grasses/ herbal ley as possible please?

I'm convinced its come in a seed mix that shouldn't have had any but of course the seed company are swearing no one else has complained and it must've self seeded - not in this volume it hasnt in one year
Cheers.

Anything kills red clover pretty much. Fluroxypyr (minstrel, starane) will sort it pretty quick.

anything that kills docks really, mcpa or 24d would probably do it too.

As others have said, over grazing.
It won't persist.

But again, the question is why kill it.

It’s on land we do horse hay from and some is also grazed over winter - red clover is an endocrine disruptor and too high in protein, starch and potassium for equines. Basically sends their brains doolally and bodies into breakdown 🙄

If you graze it very hard with sheep over winter then you will likely, kill most of it out. However, as with any effective herbicides, you will likely kill out most of the other ‘herbs’ there, which you presumably wanted.

IF the RC came in the seed mix, then it’s likely some will only emerge next year, so you’ll not be rid of it in one go. You will certainly reduce it by punishing it over winter though.

Ah, fair point.

Well at the moment you're doing the right approach to let it persist (i.e. flower and self seed).

Zing it off with a mower and bale it up.

Then punish with sheep over winter as per @neilo.

Good luck.

We’ve had all sorts of exotic unwanted species in seed bags. I think in the rush to cash in on the demand for all sorts of fancy seed mixes some of these merchants aren’t sweeping out their bagging plants thoroughly enough. You’d only need a ounce of clover seed stuck in the machine to seed a field of it got into the next batch.
