Presumably this legitimate loophole involves someone being economical with the facts when they dutifully fill out their Mass Balance calculation.

although I will buy as much discounted unassured OSR and milling wheat as anyone wants to sell me and I have spare stickers for ...............

maybe the best way to fight dishonesty is with dishonesty !! ???
Don’t lower yourself to there levels, were better than that👍

Can’t store grain with a commercial third party store without Red Tractor either.

Camgrain or @Woldgrain Storage for example.

TASCC assured stores are now limited to handling RT assured grain only.

A long time ago TASCC stores could take non-assured grain in and then outload it as TASCC assured (as long as there was a magic wand near the pits)

Then the TASCC rules changed to say it had to be completely separate in store, then about 12-15 years ago it was stopped altogether.

Remind me again who controls TASCC, it wouldn’t be the AIC would it?
The trade body who the NFU endorses their UK grain buying contract which states as a standard condition that the grain must be assured? It surly wouldn’t be the same AIC, would it?
Or maybe it’s a different NFU and not the one that says it represents UK farmers interests they would never be involved with cutting off routes to market for the UK farmers they are supposed to represent!

Why in the world would you give them remotely accurate figures for mass balance- just handing power to the merchants who would use the information to manipulate prices in their favour
Made all of mine up how can i say what i have in the shed without it being weighed?
They really thought this one out didnt they.
When i had my yearly inspection the fellow just seen i had filled in several sheets of there fancy nonsence form & the box on his sheet was ticked.
Its just a complete farce

I did my mass balance in Troy ounces! I told the inspector I wasn’t happy showing him it, he asked me had I done it. I said yes and he ticked the box. I didn’t need to show him it in the end.

As there's been so much discussion on here about Red Tractor lately, I was wondering what the difference is between assured and non-assured grain. I've heard that it could be as little as £3 a ton, or as much as 25%. If it was to the former, then I would drop it for certain. One thing I do know from talking to lorry drivers over the years is that it almost always goes into the same heap regardless of its status.
Find anywhere that will take it at the same value as so called assured. its like a bit grey hand gets put in front of you thou shall not pass or in this case we dont want it unfortunatly

Even the pen pushers at RT must realise that it is completely pointless insisting that we produce data which they have no means of validating. Prove that my grain in store B wasn’t 9 degrees on 8th September. It is the ultimate bureaucracy, billions of pieces of valueless data which “could” 😬 be completely made up!

Perhaps the answer is to have a buyer and negotiate a contract before you plant the crop?

I'm always surprised that people think they can just grow what they want, when they want and have a mob of people wanting to buy it with no requirements 🤷‍♂️
What if the crop is way short its end yield? your buggered then aint you. poss why most isnt done that way.
