Bigger loaders are astronomical money. The day is slowly approaching where il need a new one and I’m fully dreading it.
KisAll you need is a decent sheargrab with a push off arm, and let the barriers do the work
@Boomerang17 - is this how you feed your cows? How frequently do you fill the passageway? All you need is a decent sheargrab with a push off arm, and let the barriers do the work
Yes that’s how we feed the milkers. It could last 5 days if we put a taller block in, but we only put 3/4 height blocks in so it runs out every 3.5 days. Just to keep quality as high as possible@Boomerang17 - is this how you feed your cows? How frequently do you fill the passageway?
What is it?we use one of these, holds 15 cube of pit silage. Have had it for 5 seasons and brought it nearly new. Would feed 500 ton DM per season easy.
Have not touched it. Regular greasing (once a week) and tightening of the walking floor twice a season when it goes slack. Nothing to go wrong really KISS comes to mind, why complicate things if you have to? Would be a heap quicker than just the grab, and can be taken off easy as, no PTO like a mixer. Can also get scales if wanted.
cheaper than a combi wagon, not as versatile but you can feed out bales with it if Your careful.

Currently dig out grass silage into a pile with a grab, then use a large Emily bucket to pick it up and feed it along troughs. Simple and little to go wrong. Only needs one tractor.
Stupidly thinking out loud now, can I fill a mixer wagon with loader tractor and then hitch loader tractor up to it and stir silage and feed it out, or does the wagon need to be stirring all the time and have another tractor attached?
Are forage boxes still a thing? Do the need another tractor too?
Should I just stick with my simple current system?
Stole this from the cowpow website, But it gives you and idea. I wouldn't be afraid of making my own as they’re pretty simple. Can you take a pic of the mechanism that allows it to move in
Guessing you’r B doesn't work , Not sure what you mean by adjustable, But in the girder lip you can see a little latch that holds them in place. Once the cows have eaten what they can reach (usually 24hrs time) we lift the latches and the cows push the barriers in closer. Then another 48hrs goes by and the passage is empty, we push them all back, put the latches back down and feed again. Hopefully that answers you’r question.are they adjustale arriers
