We had the same experience last year. SW and SB yielding the same and both drilled late. I had one 20 ha field do 7.8 t/ha over the weighbridge drilled 7th April. Average yields were both 6.7 t/ha. similar growing costs but wheat worth much more. Luckily negligible ergot.

Seems like i should try it on some hectares this year. Only problem is the late harvest, especially if i should drill cover crops after, as that is no later than august 20th.
Ergot is also a varying problem in my rye.

The spring wheat we grew last year yielded 7.9t/ha and has been sold ex farm at between £181 and £212/t. It will be our best GM by far. Do I expect to do this again? NO. I shall be growing 50 ha to try though!

Agree. 130ha of spring wheat on one farm should make the owner very happy!
