Could do worse and turn into their father.Be aware and warned if you don’t know already; they turn into their mothers and it could happen sooner than you think!
I have posted before about a Wagtail which used to nest regularly in our irrigators, followed the machine right round the farm and only got excited when the young were getting ready to fledgeI do a lot of work with irrigation reels and they often have birds nests in them. Lots of queen wasps too for some reason!
the one that sticks in my mind though I got called to a farm where the reel wouldn’t wind in no speed and the farmer was adamant that there was a problem with the gearbox. Experience has taught me though start at the beginning every time no matter what. And it turned out all the problem was a bird nest in the machine right up in the cone filter stone trap. Enough to stop the turbine getting enough power but enough flow going past to look like the gun was throwing plenty out.
Same here less small birds, one swallow came then a week later another one, that is all, usually 10 or twelve nesting in the old buildings. Hope the two breed!!!When we moved in to our cottage about 6 years ago there were loads of house martin nesting but ever year there were getting less now not seen one this year, seen some swallows flying around, whats it like in other parts of the country ?
