We like the mower it’s centre pull so we can work the field up and down as it keeps the rows neat and is easy to work out we still go up and down and we now have rtk. We’ve only once had the grouper not work and that was really wet fresh growth 1st cut. 2nd and 3rd cut it’s far superior to a rake doesn’t rake stones up and is done at mowing so less passes also it doesn’t dry out too quick and it goes up the forager so much smoother and faster. In first cut it can be hard to dry so if it’s wet we lift single swaths. Not had trouble until I noticed a crack yesterday in the bracket that holds grouper to the frameHow do u find the krone mower? Have a mate with modified storm ,and is putting around 4000 acre a year through it ,old style fendt 926 on front ,regular 100 acre a dayThe Lely Storm is a very impressive machine. Give it more power and it simply gives more output.
On the older models the pick up and shear bar were holding up the speed of harvest. Now it is not an issue.
Long days, 8 in morning until 10 at night and everything would want to go right to do 40 and usually 3 tractors drawing in.How long is your day? Id expect the tractor to burn 25lts per hour.
Thanks for the info. Ever run a jd 1365? Thats the beauty of jf for this years 1st cut only turned cutting bar 7 new knives and two roll pins a couple of chain joiners and off went so she is cheap to run.If the harvester is genuinely the limiting factor then the likes of a 1350 on a 200hp - 250hp tractor is going to see an upgrade in output.
If the trailers are small, silo access poor or if the loading shovel struggles money could be spent elsewhere.
You could also have a look at a Lely Storm, they can chuck grass for fun.
Although the JF looks to be made from Rover tins in comparison the JF is mostly chains and cheap blades.
Have blowup with either and I know which one will be back working the quickest for the least money.
Tidy looking, can you get a good wilt with the grouper and are the swaths tight enough for a trailed machine? We like the mower it’s centre pull so we can work the field up and down as it keeps the rows neat and is easy to work out we still go up and down and we now have rtk.
