recommendations for a good pocket knife

Leatherman Wave CX here now, absolutely brilliant but get scared about losing it.

Always had Sheffield made G. Ibbotson pruning knives, you could get them with an orange handle and a screwdriver blade, excellent things but have become almost impossible to buy.

I don’t know how you lot can carry knives in your pockets. Can’t think of anything worse ( apart from carrying a wallet & car keys as well )
Have always, & EVERYONE else I know who carries a knife, carried it in a pouch on my belt. MUCH better

Victorix floral knife, believe it or not. Simple, straight forward, unbreakable, and stainless. At £16 I can afford it. I've got two as I lost one, bought another, and then found the first.

But if I lost these, I'd buy a Gaelforce serrated knife at £6, but I'd need to make a sheath up for it. Plenty in that range from the same place, but more expensive.

Edited to say I keep a whet stone and steel on the kitchen hard top from the days when I fed raw beef tripe to the dogs. Never have a dull knife.

Is the pouch made or bought ? Very neat either way !👍
Only flaw is over here, a lot of folk will be in overalls, waterproofs, amd long coats etc, so your belt is tricky to get to .
But the idea of it is excellent.

He said it, Opinel No 12
I have found the Opinel knives are too brittle and snap

I have a bit of an obsession with knives and probably have 50 penknives in total.
The one in my pocket is a Swiss Army Knife, Farmer Alox. I have a lot to choose from but that is my preference. Small enough to not even notice it is there and very useful for a lot of things, way more useful than an Opinel (which I also have several of)

that one was made by a local saddler, as i didn’t like the one that came with the Leatherman, but plenty of pouches anywhere that sells knives, saddlers or works with leather

fair point about overalls etc

I once lashed out £35 for a Buck knife from a stall at Builth. Mrs NeilO reminded me of my frivolous spending for several years after.

I’ve still got it, as I can’t afford to lose it.
Bet it has outlived those shoes she bought, which needless to say, you diplomatically didn’t mention, other than to say, those shoes look great on those wonderful pins…😏

I like these, a nice weight to them, they stay sharp for quite a while and at about £18ish not heart breaking expensive when you inevitably drop and lose it!

Have a Boker Kalashnikov one with a serrated blade. Have it about 10 years never sharpened it yet and it would still cut through anything.
